The Department of Civil Engineering at BTI offers a four-year B.E. programme with an AICTE-approved intake of 30 seats, affiliated to VTU, Belagavi. Civil Engineering is the oldest Engineering discipline, Encompassing structural design, Geotechnical engineering, Transportation, Environmental Engineering, Surveying and Construction Management, preparing students to shape the built environment.

Message from the Head of Department

Prof. Gigi Susan George
Prof. Gigi Susan George Associate professor and Head, Civil Engineering B.E., M.Tech., Ph.D. +25 (19 – Teaching + 6 – Industry) of teaching experience

Mrs. Gigi Susan George is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering with 24 years of professional experience, including 18 years in teaching. She holds an M.Tech in Geotechnical Engineering from Kerala University and specializes in geotechnical and foundation engineering. She has taught a wide range of undergraduate civil engineering courses and has guided several innovative geotechnical projects. An ISTE member, she has actively participated in numerous FDPs, workshops, and conferences on sustainable construction, geospatial technologies, and accreditation. She is committed to excellence in teaching, research, and the advancement of civil engineering education.

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)

  1. PEO 1: Graduates will be able to exhibit strong technical proficiency by applying
    fundamentals of maths, science and engineering to analyse, design and solve infrastructure
    related problems.
    PEO 2: Graduates will apply technical knowledge and skills to solve civil engineering
    problems, contributing effectively to project planning, design, and execution.
    PEO 3: Graduates will advance in their professional careers in civil engineering or related
    fields, demonstrating strong communication, teamwork, and project management skills.
    PEO 4: Graduates will be able to practice civil engineering with an understanding of
    professional ethics, societal needs, environmental sustainability, and safety considerations.
    PEO 5: Graduates will engage in lifelong learning through further education, professional
    development activities, or research to adapt to evolving technological and societal needs.

Program Specific Outcomes (PSOs)

  1. PSO 1: The graduates will demonstrate proficiency in Civil Engineering by applying
    principles of mathematics, science and engineering along with technical expertise.
    PSO 2: The graduates will be equipped with proficiency in Civil Engineering with the ability
    to plan, analyse, design, execute and maintain cost effective civil engineering structures
    without overexploitation of natural resources.
    PSO 3: The graduates will develop proficiency in analytical skills, research and innovation
    contributing effectively as per the industry requirements by delivering effective socio-
    economic skills for the advancement in technology and development for sustainable civil
    society.
