The Department of Robotics & Artificial Intelligence at BTI offers a four-year B.E. programme with an AICTE-approved intake of 60 seats, affiliated to VTU, Belagavi. Established in 2022, this interdisciplinary programme blends mechanical engineering, electronics, computer science and AI,training students to design, build and program intelligent robotic systems for manufacturing, healthcare, agriculture and defence applications.

Dr. Mohamed Saleem
Dr. Mohamed Saleem Professor & Head, Robotics & Artificial Intelligence B.E., M.Tech., Ph.D. 15+ Years of teaching experience

Heads the Department of Robotics & Artificial Intelligence at BTI. Specialises in Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Thermal Engineering, and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). Has filed and been granted 2 design patents. Actively drives industry-academia collaboration through MOUs, student visits, and technical workshops. Contact: hod.ri@btibangalore.org

PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

  1. PEO1: To possess a strong foundation in the principles and practices of robotics and artificial intelligence, and develop innovative solutions.
  2. PEO2: To be prepared for successful careers in academia, research, industry and entrepreneurship, contributing effectively in the fields of robotics and AI.
  3. PEO3: : To engage in continuous learning through advanced studies with professional development keeping pace with evolving technologies.
  4. PEO4: To be aware of the broader impacts of robotics and AI on society, with ethics and safety, and the potential implications for employment and quality of life.
  5. PEO5: To work effectively in team environments, contributing to and facilitating collaborative efforts to achieve common goals.

PROGRAM SPECIFIC OUTCOMES

PSO1: Graduates will demonstrate proficiency in Robotics and AI by applying principles of mathematics, basic science and related disciplines of Engineering along with technical expertise.

PSO2: Graduates will design and build AI powered robotic systems for different applications using the principles of artificial intelligence, machine learning, robotics engineering and control systems.

PSO3: Graduates will solve real-world problems in a variety of domains, with proficiency in innovative research based on industry requirement employing socio economic skills.

NSS & AICTE Community Activities

The Department of Robotics & AI actively participates in community outreach through NSS and AICTE Activity Point programmes. On 07/04/2026, 4th-semester students visited Government School Kodathi, conducting awareness sessions on education, technology, hygiene, and social responsibility. Separately, final-year students visited Dommasandra under the AICTE Activity Point Programme (VTU) to promote 100% digital transactions u2014 educating villagers on UPI, mobile banking, and QR-code payments for financial inclusion.
