The Department of Mechanical Engineering at BTI offers a Four-Year B.E. Programme with an AICTE Approved intake of 30 seats, affiliated to VTU, Belagavi. One of the Core Engineering disciplines, The Programme covers Thermodynamics, Fluid mechanics, Design, Manufacturing, CAD/CAM and idustrial engineering, equipping students for careers in Automobile, Aerospace, Energy, Production and Infrastructure sectors.

Dr. R. Bala Sundar Rao
Dr. R. Bala Sundar Rao Professor & Head, Mechanical Engineering B.E., M.E., Ph.D., FIE 40 years of teaching experience

Professor & Head of the Mechanical Engineering department with 40 years of teaching experience. Holds a Ph.D. from Anna University Chennai, M.E. from Coimbatore Institute of Technology, and B.E. from Bapatla Engineering College. Specialises in Thermal Engineering Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, Heat Transfer, and Thermodynamics. Published research in Springer and Taylor & Francis journals. Recipient of the Best Teacher Award (1991). Member of ORSI, ISTE, and FIE. Has guided 50 UG and 15 PG projects. Contact: hod-mech@btibangalore.org | +91 98452 87649

PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

  1. PEO1: To prepare students with overall knowledge in Mechanical Engineering and also in the fields of Mathematics, Science and Computing skills and enabling them to understand specific problem areas and finding the optimum solutions for the same.
  2. PEO2: To prepare Mechanical Engineering graduates for higher education in engineering and management so that they can excel in core design, thermal, manufacturing, management, or software careers through quality education.
  3. PEO3: Enable graduates to adapt to emerging technologies and industry trends, demonstrating competence in solving complex engineering challenges through continuous learning.
  4. PEO4: Develop graduates into ethical, socially responsible professionals with effective communication, leadership, teamwork, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  5. PEO5: Promote innovation, creativity, and collaborative skills among graduates to contribute to industrial advancement and overall societal development
