Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC)

The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) at Bangalore Technological Institute is established under the Innovation Cell of the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India. The IIC is a structured body that promotes a culture of innovation, entrepreneurship, and start-up development among students and faculty.

Objectives of IIC

  • To create a vibrant local innovation ecosystem within the institution
  • To encourage students to participate in IPR awareness, pre-incubation, and entrepreneurship activities
  • To organise innovation activities and motivate students to work on ideas and start-ups
  • To connect students with mentors, angel investors, and industry experts
  • To facilitate participation in national-level innovation challenges such as Smart India Hackathon (SIH)
  • To promote research, patents, and technology commercialisation

IIC Activities at BTI

  • Annual IDEATHON,national-level innovation competition open to engineering and management students
  • Design Thinking and Innovation workshops for students and faculty
  • Entrepreneurship awareness sessions and start-up bootcamps
  • IPR (Intellectual Property Rights) awareness seminars
  • Mentoring sessions with industry leaders and successful alumni entrepreneurs
  • Collaboration with the BTI Incubation Centre (BTI IGNITE)

KTBI,Knowledge Transfer & Business Incubation

KTBI supports the transfer of research knowledge and technology from academia to industry. Working in conjunction with the IIC and BTI Incubation Centre, KTBI facilitates:

  • Technology transfer agreements and licensing with partner companies
  • Faculty and student consultancy projects for industry
  • Joint research and development with MoU partner organisations
  • Skill development programmes aligned with emerging industry needs
  • Business mentoring for student start-ups in the pre-incubation phase

IIC Council Structure

The IIC is led by the Principal as President and includes faculty coordinators from each department, student innovation ambassadors, and industry nominees. Regular meetings are held to review activities and plan upcoming events.

BTI Ignite Incubation Council is a not-for-profit Section 8 Company, founded by Dr. A. Prabhakara Reddy, dedicated to fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, research, and technology-driven solutions. Registered as an MSME and NGO DARPAN organization, the council provides a vibrant ecosystem that supports startups, students, researchers, innovators, and aspiring entrepreneurs in transforming innovative ideas into impactful products and sustainable ventures.

The council facilitates the complete innovation lifecycle through startup incubation, mentoring, research guidance, product prototyping, intellectual property (IPR) facilitation, technology commercialization, industry collaborations, and startup acceleration. With its Centre of Excellence in Humanoid Robotics and Centre of Excellence in Internet of Things (IoT), BTI Ignite offers a diverse range of industry-oriented internships, live projects, hackathons, innovation challenges, workshops, and entrepreneurship development programs. Internship opportunities span emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Robotics, IoT, Embedded Systems, Data Science, Cloud Computing, Cybersecurity, Software Development, Product Design, and Intellectual Property Rights.

Internship Evaluation

Our evaluation process is designed to encourage continuous learning and innovation. Interns are assessed through milestone-based reviews, mentor feedback, technical performance, project quality, creativity, teamwork, communication skills, and adherence to timelines.

Successful participants are awarded an Internship Completion Certificate, and outstanding performers may receive Letters of Appreciation, recommendations for advanced projects, research opportunities, or startup incubation support.
