Science & Humanities Department
The Department of Science & Humanities at Bangalore Technological Institute, established in 2010, is the backbone of engineering education, delivering foundational knowledge in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Humanities to all first-year B.E. students across every discipline.
About the Department
Comprising four sub-divisions,Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Humanities, the department aims to provide value-based education that equips aspiring engineers with the scientific and linguistic foundations essential for their technical programmes and professional careers.
Physics
Vision: To be the foundation for all engineering knowledge.
The Physics division grounds students in the fundamentals of mechanics, electromagnetism, thermodynamics, quantum physics, and materials science, bridging theory with experimental work through well-equipped laboratories. Research interests include condensed matter physics, nanotechnology, photonics, and computational physics.
Chemistry
Vision: To be the foundation for all engineering knowledge.
The Chemistry division delivers inorganic, physical, and analytical chemistry tailored for engineering applications. Advanced laboratories allow students to conduct experiments that reinforce theoretical knowledge and build practical laboratory skills.
Mathematics
Vision: To be the foundation for all engineering knowledge.
The Mathematics division equips students with calculus, linear algebra, differential equations, probability, statistics, numerical methods, and discrete mathematics. A dedicated Python Lab supports mathematical computation, data analysis, and mathematical modelling.
Humanities
The Humanities division covers Kannada and English language courses, enhancing linguistic proficiency and cultural understanding vital for personal and professional development. The division emphasises technical writing, public speaking, and presentation skills.
A state-of-the-art Digital Language Lab equipped with VTU and AICTE-recommended software supports preparation for Linguaskill, IELTS, and TOEFL examinations.
Laboratories
- Engineering Physics Laboratory
- Engineering Chemistry Laboratory
- Digital Language Laboratory
- Python Programming Laboratory (Mathematics)
